Fixing Frequent Pop-ups with F405 WING APP and OPENIPC RUBY Firmware
1. Phenomenon Description
When using the F405 WING APP flight controller paired with OPENIPC RUBY firmware, some users encounter the issue of "frequent pop-ups preventing normal use."
As shown in the video.
2. Cause of the Issue
When the wireless board communicates with the flight controller, OPENIPC also transmits and receives data simultaneously with the flight controller, causing a data conflict between the two, which triggers frequent pop-ups on the OPENIPC video transmission screen.
3. Solutions
Disabling the communication on the SERIAL6 serial port used by the F405 WING APP wireless board or upgrading the wireless board's Bluetooth firmware can resolve this issue. Below are two methods to quickly fix the frequent pop-up problem:
Method 1: Modify Flight Controller Parameters (Recommended)
- Connect the flight controller to the computer using a USB data cable;
- Power on the air unit;
- Open Mission Planner software;
- Configure parameters:
a. Click "Config & Tuning";
b. Enter "All Parameters";
c. Search for and enter SERIAL6_PROTOCOL;
d. Set the value of SERIAL6_PROTOCOL to -1;
e. Then click "Write Parameters".

- After completing the operation, power off both the flight controller and the air unit, then power them back on to resolve the pop-up issue.
Method 2: Upgrade Wireless Board Bluetooth Chip Firmware using SpeedyBee APP (Not recommended for now)
SpeedyBee APP download link: https://www.speedybee.com/speedy-bee-app/
※Using this method requires updating the flight controller firmware to INAV 6.0.0 or higher; currently, ArduPilot firmware cannot use this method.
- Set the wireless board to BLE Bluetooth mode. The specific operation is as follows: Long press the BOOT key on the USB expansion board for 6 seconds until the flight controller wireless board status light turns green, indicating the wireless board is set to BLE Bluetooth mode.

- Open SpeedyBee APP, connect the flight controller to the APP, and select "Bluetooth Firmware" in the Toolbox.

- Select the latest firmware (6.1.3 or higher) and click Download.
※The firmware version 6.1.2 shown in the image below is for demonstration only

- After the download is complete, the system will automatically jump to the WiFi settings interface. Please connect to the SpeedyBee F405W-BLE WiFi.

- After confirming the connection is successful, wait for the firmware upgrade to complete.
※During the upgrade, please keep the distance between the phone and the flight controller within 20 centimeters

- After the firmware is upgraded to the latest version, the frequent pop-up issue when using the flight controller with OPENIPC devices will be resolved.
4. Verification
Perform a flight test. If frequent pop-ups do not occur (as shown in the video), the issue is resolved; if they still occur, please reconfigure according to the methods above.
