Operating Automatic Parameter Tuning and Leveling Mode
I. Principles
During the aircraft tuning process, the flight controller's mounting angle or control parameters may affect flight attitude and control feel. The AUTOLEVEL (Auto Level Calibration) and AUTOTUNE (Auto Tuning) functions can help optimize the flight experience:
1. AUTOLEVEL (Auto Level Calibration)
- Applicable when the flight controller mounting angle doesn't match the aircraft's level flight angle.
- In self-level mode or other flight controller dominant modes, if the aircraft exhibits pitch-up or pitch-down behavior, you can perform flight controller attitude calibration through
AUTOLEVEL.
2. AUTOTUNE (Auto Tuning) - Applicable when the aircraft control feel is poor or overly sensitive.
- By automatically adjusting
PIDparameters during flight, the aircraft's flight attitude becomes more stable and the control feel smoother.
II. Equipment Preparation
1) Flight Controller: Any of the following flight controllers are compatible with this tutorial: SpeedyBee F405 WING APP / SpeedyBee F405 WING MINI / CoreWing F405 WING V2.
2) Assembled Aircraft: Including RC transmitter, receiver, VTX (video transmitter), and FPV equipment (small pilot, etc.).
III. Specific Operations
3.1 Using AUTOLEVEL (Auto Level Calibration)
Applicable to: When the aircraft exhibits pitch-up or pitch-down behavior in self-level mode or other flight controller dominant modes.
1. After takeoff, switch the RC transmitter to AUTOLEVEL mode.
2. Keep the aircraft flying level, ensuring stable attitude.
3. The flight controller will automatically calibrate its mounting angle, optimizing the aircraft's level attitude.
4. Observe whether the aircraft still shows significant pitch-up or pitch-down:
- If the flight is stable, calibration is complete.
- If there's still deviation, you can repeat the
AUTOLEVELoperation or check the flight controller mounting angle.
3.2 Using AUTOTUNE (Auto Tuning)
Applicable to: When the aircraft has poor control feel during flight, with controls that are too sensitive or sluggish.
3.2.1 Entering AUTOTUNE Mode
- Enter Modes.
- Set the ANGLE (Angle Mode) channel to
CH8, follow the diagram below for settings, click Add range to expand the value range. - Use
AUTOTUNEandANGLEin combination, follow the diagram below for settings. - Click Save.

- Enter the PID tuning page
- View current PID

3.2.2 Performing Roll Auto Tuning
- After takeoff, switch the RC transmitter to
AUTOTUNE 模式. - Keep the aircraft flying level, ensuring stable flight.
- During level flight, perform roll auto tuning:
- First, move the stick fully left to achieve maximum left roll angle.
- Quickly return to center.
- Then, move the stick fully right to achieve maximum right roll angle.
- Quickly return to center.
- Repeat this operation about 20 times, the flight controller will automatically adjust the roll parameters.

3.2.3 Performing Pitch Auto Tuning
- After roll tuning is complete, begin pitch auto tuning:
- Pull the stick fully up to achieve maximum pitch angle.
- Quickly return to center.
- Push the stick fully down to achieve maximum pitch angle.
- Quickly return to center.
- Repeat this operation until the control feel is appropriate.

3.2.4 Landing in AUTOTUNE Mode and Saving Parameters
1. Complete the landing in AUTOTUNE mode.
2. After landing, do not disarm with the transmitter, and do not power off, maintain power to the flight controller.
3. Save tuning data:
- Push the transmitter's left stick to the lower left corner and the right stick to the lower right corner, as shown below.
- Wait for the flight controller to emit a "beep" sound, indicating successful parameter saving.

Important
After successful parameter saving, disarm and disconnect all power!
3.2.5 Confirming Auto Tuning Parameters Were Successfully Written
- Connect the flight controller to the ground control station (GCS) using a data cable
- View the PID page again and check if the PID values have changed; if they have, it means the auto tuning parameters have been saved.
