How to set up Sport receiver for INAV firmware
I. Principle
Sport (Smart Port) is a single-wire serial communication protocol designed by FrSky for transmitting RC signals and sensor data. The flight controller reads receiver signals through the UART port to achieve flight control and supports telemetry data feedback.
II. Equipment Preparation
Hardware
1) Flight Controller: SpeedyBee F405 WING APP / SpeedyBee F405 WING MINI / CoreWing F405 WING V2. Any of these flight controllers are applicable for this tutorial.
2) Sport Receiver: Such as FrSky R-XSR, X8R, X4R-SB, etc.
3) RC Transmitter: Such as Taranis Q X7, X9D, X9D+, X9E, etc.
4) Computer: Used for ground control station configuration.
5) USB Data Cable: Used to connect to the flight controller.
Software

III. Specific Operations
1. Wiring
Connect the Sport receiver to the flight controller:
SBUS_OUT→SBUS
GND→GND
V_IN→4V5
Inverted S.Port→T2
2. Binding the Receiver
- Put the receiver into binding mode:
- Press and hold the F/S button on the receiver while connecting the battery. The red LED on the receiver will flash and the green LED will stay on, indicating that binding is in progress.

- Put the transmitter into binding mode:
- Turn on the transmitter, go to the
SETUPpage, select FrSky D16 (ACCST) or ACCESS mode, press Bind, and wait for the connection.
- Confirm successful binding:
- Re-power the transmitter and then re-power the receiver. If the green LED on the receiver flashes, it indicates successful binding.

3. INAV Ground Control Station Setup
- Connect the flight controller to the INAV ground control station.
- On the Configuration page, enable the Enable CPU based serial ports option.

- On the Ports page
SOFTSERIAL1, for Telemetry, selectSmartPort.
- Check RC signal input: In the Receiver section of the ground control station, check if the channel data has normal feedback. If the data changes normally, it indicates successful communication between the receiver and flight controller.
