I. Equipment Preparation
To update from OpenTX to EdgeTX, you need to install OpenTX and EdgeTX Companion on your computer.
OpenTX Companion download: https://downloads.open-tx.org/2.3/release/companion/
EdgeTX Companion download: https://github.com/EdgeTX/edgetx/releases (filename format: edgetx-cpn-[OS]-[version].zip)
II. Backup Models
2.1 Select EEPROM Backup
Turn on the transmitter, navigate to Transmitter Settings -> Hardware, scroll to the bottom of the screen and select EEPROM Backup.
If this option is not available, it means your transmitter does not use EEPROM for data storage, and you can skip this step.
2.2 Select USB Storage
After powering on the transmitter, connect it to the computer via USB. When the transmitter prompts to select USB mode, choose USB Storage.
2.3 Launch OpenTX Companion
- Select the Backup Transmitter to File icon on the left screen. Choose a save location (such as desktop) and name the file.

- After saving the file, close OpenTX Companion.
- Delete the contents of the Model folder on the SD card, ensuring the folder is empty.
- Disconnect the transmitter from the computer and turn off the transmitter.
III. Flash EdgeTX Bootloader and Firmware
- With the transmitter turned off, connect it to the computer via USB, which will connect the transmitter to the computer in DFU mode.
For Jumper T-Pro, you need to hold the Boot0 button before inserting USB to enter DFU mode.
Visit the following website: https://buddy.edgetx.org/, Select the Firmware Version and Transmitter Model, then click Flash via USB.
- On the next screen, select the STM32 Bootloader device and click Next.

If the STM32 Bootloader device is not displayed, select Add New Device. In the popup window, select STM32 Bootloader and click Connect.
- After selecting the STM32 Bootloader device and clicking Next, a confirmation screen will appear to verify your settings.
After confirming everything is correct (version, transmitter, and device), click the Start Flashing button.
- EdgeTX Buddy will start the flashing process, and the screen will display the progress.

After flashing is complete, click the Set Up Your SD Card link on the completion screen, which will take you to the SD card content page.
IV. Set Up SD Card
- Click the Set Up Your SD Card link on the completion screen, which will take you to the SD card content page.
Disconnect the transmitter from the computer and turn on the transmitter. You will see the transmitter display the EdgeTX splash screen, but you will still hear the "Welcome to OpenTX" prompt tone, which is normal.
- After powering on the transmitter, connect it to the computer via USB. When the transmitter prompts to select USB mode, choose USB Storage. Click the Select SD Card option, then navigate to the EdgeTX SD card.

- The EdgeTX SD card will be mounted as a USB drive on your computer. After selecting the USB drive, click Select Folder.

- On the SD card content page, confirm the firmware version and transmitter model are correct, then select the desired sound pack language. Click Apply Changes. A status window will pop up and display the installation progress. After the files are installed, the status window will automatically close.

At this point, the EdgeTX bootloader, firmware, and SD card content are fully installed. Close EdgeTX Buddy.
V. Convert from OpenTX to EdgeTX Format
- Launch EdgeTX Companion. If you haven't created a transmitter configuration file yet, create one and ensure it is the active profile.
- In the top-left corner of Companion, select File -> Open, then select the previously backed up OpenTX file. A warning message will appear, click OK.

- In EdgeTX Companion, you will see all the models from OpenTX. Click the Write Models and Settings to Transmitter button. The system will prompt you that all models on the transmitter will be overwritten, click Yes.

- The models and settings will be written to the transmitter. After completion, a prompt message will appear, click OK. Disconnect the transmitter from USB and close EdgeTX Companion.

Successfully migrated to EdgeTX! All models have been updated to EdgeTX's .yml format, and the EdgeTX sound pack has been installed. However, widget settings cannot be migrated directly from OpenTX and need to be set manually in EdgeTX.
