Color Remote Control Interface Usage
I. User Interface
The EdgeTX user interface can be navigated using physical buttons, touch interface, or a combination of both.
Common navigation buttons:
Buttons:
- [SYS] - System button - Short press [SYS] to enter radio settings page. - Long press [SYS] to enter radio settings page.
- [MDL] - Model button - Short press [MDL] to enter model settings page - Long press [MDL] to enter select model page
- [RTN] - Return/Back - Short press [RTN] to return to the previous page, previous menu, or cancel operation
- [PAGE>] / [PAGE<] - Next Page & Previous Page - Used to navigate between different screens, tabs, or option settings depending on the screen.
- [TELE] - Telemetry - Short press [TELE] to enter screen settings page - Long press [TELE] to enter channel monitor page
- [Roller] or [Dial] - Next & Previous Value - The roller is used to navigate through menu options.
- [Enter] - Accept - Used to select options, functions, or accept values - Press the [Roller] or [Dial] button to select or enter.
Additional System and Model Button Functions
System and model buttons have different functions on different screens of the user interface:
On the Radio Settings screen: - Short press [MDL] to navigate to the model settings screen
- Long press [MDL] to navigate to the manage models screen
On the Model Settings screen: - Short press [SYS] to navigate to radio settings (tools) screen
- Long press [SYS] to navigate to radio settings (settings) screen
- Short press [MDL] to navigate to channel monitor (existing function)
- Long press [MDL] to navigate to manage models screen
On the Channel Monitor screen: - Short press [MDL] to navigate to model settings screen
- Long press [MDL] to navigate to manage models screen
- Short press [SYS] to navigate to radio settings (tools) screen
- Long press [SYS] to navigate to radio settings (settings) screen
On the Manage Models screen: - Short press [MDL] to navigate to model settings screen
- Short press [SYS] to navigate to radio settings (tools) screen
- Long press [SYS] to navigate to radio settings (settings) screen
Touch Interface:
Some radio equipment is equipped with touchscreens. On these devices, you can interact with menu options by touching or using physical buttons.
The touch interface can be disabled by configuring special functions.
Touch the EdgeTX icon in the top-left corner of the screen to open the main navigation menu. Touch the desired menu option to select it.
For models with a valid model checklist file in the Models folder, a Model Notes icon is added after the Manage Models icon.
Pressing the roller from the main screen will also open the main navigation menu. You can then use the roller to scroll to the desired menu option and select it by pressing the roller.
II. Virtual Keyboard
For convenient text and number input, EdgeTX uses virtual text and numeric keyboards that can be interacted with via touchscreen or roller. Additionally, there are shortcuts mapped to hardware buttons as described below:
2.1 Text Keyboard Shortcuts Using Hardware Keys
Transmitters with a single PGUP/DN key and X12S:
- [SYS] = Cursor left
- Long press [SYS] = Cursor to beginning
- [MDL] = Change keyboard mode (uppercase, lowercase, numbers + special characters, numbers)
- Long press [MDL] = Backspace
- [PGDN] = Toggle case
- [PGUP] (X12S) = Toggle case
- Long press PGDN = Delete
- [TELE] = Cursor right
- Long press [TELE] = Cursor to end
Transmitters with separate PGUP and PGDN keys: - [SYS] = Change keyboard mode (uppercase, lowercase, numbers + special characters, numbers)
- Long press [MDL] = Backspace
- [PGDN] = Cursor right
- Long press [PGDN] = Cursor to end
- [PGUP] = Cursor left
- Long press PGUP = Cursor to beginning
- [TELE] = Toggle case
- Long press [TELE] = Delete

2.2 Numeric Keyboard Shortcuts Using Hardware Keys:

III. Fine-tune Navigation
Using trim hat switches on NV14 and EL18 to navigate menus
On NV14 and EL18 transmitters, trim hat switches can be used to navigate menu options.
In the transmitter settings screen, you can configure Hats Mode to one of the following options:

- Trim Only: The trim hat switch will only be used to adjust trim values.
- Keys Only: The trim hat switch will be used to navigate menu options (as described below).
- Switchable: The trim hat switch function can be instantly switched between Trim and Keys.

Instant Switch Mode:
- Configure Hats Mode to Switchable.
- Hold Left hat.
- Immediately after, press Right hat.
