Flight Controller Serial Port Connection Issue
I. Symptoms
1. How to open Device Manager:
- Click the search box, search for "Device Manager", and open Device Manager.

- Right-click on "This PC" icon, click "Manage", go to Computer Management (Local)/System Tools/Device Manager to open Device Manager.

2. Issues:
Issue 1: No COM Port Display
After connecting the flight controller to the computer, the corresponding serial port is not visible in Device Manager's端口 (COM & LPT).
In some cases, the flight controller may appear in other locations (such as "Other devices" or "Unknown devices"), but is not correctly recognized as a USB serial device.
Issue 2: SpeedyBee F405 WING is recognized but no COM port is displayed
When the SpeedyBee F405 WING is recognized as a Universal Serial Bus device orlibusb-win32 devices, this indicates driver installation error, and no COM port is displayed next to SpeedyBee F405 WING.
Issue 3: Driver is recognized as another device, such as Betaflight STM32F411 as shown in the image below.

II. Causes
Driver issues: The required USB serial driver for the flight controller may not be properly installed or an incorrect version is installed. This can be resolved by reinstalling the device as
USB Serialusing the driver software.Hardware interference: When connecting to the computer for the first time, other peripherals (such as GPS, VTX, receiver, etc.) connected may cause abnormal recognition of the entire flight controller system.
III. Solutions
Important
※ Disconnect other devices: When connecting to the computer for the first time, please disconnect all external devices such as GPS, VTX, receiver, etc., to ensure the complete flight controller system is in its proper state.
Important
※ Check flight controller connection cables and interfaces: Ensure data cables and interfaces are undamaged and properly connected.
Important
※ Disconnect all external devices, maintaining only the connection between the flight controller, expansion board, and computer.
Important
※ If there was an incorrect driver originally, please uninstall that incorrect driver in Device Manager before proceeding with the following steps.
Step 1: Uninstall the incorrect driver device
- Right-click on the incorrect driver device to bring up the uninstall device option, then click Uninstall.

Step 2: Reinstall driver using driver software (preferred method)
Visit the official website of
Zadig: https://zadig.akeo.ie/Download the latest version of
Zadig.exeand run it (recommended to run with administrator privileges).

Connect the flight controller to the computer using a data cable.
In the menu bar, click
Options, check theList All Devicesoption to ensure all devices are visible.

Select
SpeedyBee F405 WING.
Select
USB Serial (CDC), then clickUpgrade Driver.

- Open Device Manager and verify it is recognized as
SpeedyBee F405 WING (COM X)

Step 3: Update driver
- In the "Other devices" section of Device Manager, find the flight controller's port, right-click on the flight controller device's port, and select
更新驱动程序.

- Select
浏览我的电脑, then click让我从计算机上的可用驱动程序列表中选取.

- Select
USB串行设备from the list, then click下一步to complete the update.

IV. Verification
After completing the above solutions, after installing or updating the driver, please close the ground control station and disconnect the USB data cable, then reconnect.
Open Device Manager to check if the serial port is correctly displayed. All three of the following display scenarios can be used normally.
- After following the above operations, the port should display as
USB 串行设备 (COMx).

- Displayed as
STMicroelectronics Virtual COM Port (COMx)—— If the flight controller is running INAV firmware, it will display as shown in the image below.

- Displayed as
ArduPilot (COMx)—— If ArduPilot ground control station was installed using a.msi(image) file, and the computer has ArduPilot drivers, a flight controller with ArduPilot firmware will display as shown in the image below.

Important
If you still cannot connect to the ground control station after performing these operations, try reflashing the firmware to resolve the issue.
